The Hot And Cold Of Autumn
By Carmel Hutchinson on September 22, 2010 in Style
Brr… with a distinct chill in the air and having nearly been blown away on the Millennium Bridge this morning, I can safely say we’re into Autumn which will no doubt quickly turn into Winter. I hate the transitional period where it’s still warm so you remain dressed in Summer attire, but look like a complete fool when caught in an unexpected rain shower.
I’ve learnt that layers are to be my best friend. I can wear as many as I like in the morning and as the day gets warmer or the weather takes a turn for the worse, I can remove and add as I please. For this reason, I am a big fan of this chunky knit cardigan from Topshop (£48) which I see with a black high waisted belt, leggings or jeans and at least 4 inch high boots or over a little day dress (for girls like me who can’t bear to put all my summer items away for at least another six months) with flat boots and socks which is on par with this season’s trend.
Also loving this mac from ASOS (£80) which is perfect for work, shopping trips, lunches, dinners – basically just about anything as you can put it on top of whatever you’re sporting that day.
My favourite part of autumn/winter clothing are the accessories – I purchase a new pair of ear muffs every year, I adore mittens despite how ridiculous they are as you can’t actually do anything when wearing them, really thick chunky knit scarves which can be wrapped round a hundred times during the chilly moments, or can be left draped loosely when it’s warmer.
Trappers and woolly hats are another guilty pleasure of mine with this F+F Tesco bargain (£4) being on my to-buy list.
