The Giggle Beats Comedy Preview
By Mark Grainger on April 16, 2012 in Stage
Hello, welcome, you’re looking nice today, is that a new hair cut? Why don’t you take a seat, unless you’re reading on your phone in which case do what you want. Actually, why don’t you hop up and down on one foot or something, keep the passers by entertained? Anyway, wherever you are and however many feet you are currently standing on, welcome to the world famous (probably) Giggle Beats comedy preview. Lets roll.
First up this fortnight is the final round of All Jokes Aside’s comedy KO competition. Whilst the title might be a bit of a mouthful the event itself should be well worth getting down to The Legion in Middlesbrough on Thursday (19th). Comedians from across the country will be laying themselves at the mercy of your funny bone for the chance to walk off with the grand prize of fifty quid and the chance to support Nick Helm in the town the following week. We’re going to have all the details over at Giggle Beats very shortly, so be sure to pop over and see us, we won’t bite.
Looking ahead to Saturday, and Grinning Idiot take up residency in South Shields’ Customs House theatre for a night of stand up from Andy Fury, Matthew Osborn and Tom Wrigglesworth.
Meanwhile over at The Stand at the start of the new week (April 23rd), Viz creator Simon Donald is bringing a new show, Fuckwits, to the stage. Described as a clueless game show, Fuckwits will see Donald presiding over ‘shambolic’ proceedings, with comedians and audience members teaming up to ‘find, fashion or fabricate the answers to incomplete puzzles and questions’.
Staying firmly seated in The Stand, the next night (Tuesday 24th) sees famous socialist, comedian and sometimes Have I Got News For You panellist Mark Steel appear with a show which he’s promised to tailor around the town or city he’s appearing in. its a bold claim, and hopefully one that we can trust Steel to deliver on without resorting to forty five minutes worth of shouting about kebabs and how people don’t wear coats in Newcastle.
That’s it for now, but as always if you have any further comedic cravings that need to be sated then please come and see us at Giggle Beats
