Question: Is This Your Cassette?

So yeah, it was Record Store Day this weekend. As usual we rolled out of bed bright and early (1pm) and set off in search of fun and enthused sole trader revivalism across the region.

There’s going to be a full and frank video to follow, featuring interviews with those behind Sunderland’s Hot Rats Records, Middlesborough’s Ack Ack Ack, Newcastle’s RPM and Stockton’s now world famous Sound It Out. Expect thrills, spills, and lots of arty shots from inside the car.

In the meantime, we wondered if you lot would mind us picking your brains for a moment. We spotted these cassettes in a number of the places we visited, and after asking a few baffled record shop owners, couldn’t find out who they belonged to.

Other than the graphic on the front, there’s no distinguishing marks, and the tape is apparently blank. I don’t suppose any of you fine folks are in the know about whose marketing campaign involves distributing a load of unbranded tapes around the region?

Are Mystery Pigs a band we’ve not yet come across? How about The Pork Head-Scratchers? Suggestions and tipoffs on a postcard please…
