Preview: Frankie & The Heartstrings @ Hoults Yard

Apart from a recent support to the Kaiser Chiefs and a Christmas show in Sunderland, Frankie & The Heartstrings have been sorely missed from the north east live scene lately, which makes Thursday’s semi-secret gig even more essential for their hefty local fanbase.
Guitarist Mick was quick to scotch suggestions that the plan was to play their new album in its entirety. “Is it bollocks. We haven’t written half of it. We’re gonna play some songs from the new album, which we started recording today, so probably half and half with old stuff.” Recording seems to be going well (“at this rate, we could have it out by tonight”) and the album will appear later in the year on the band’s own Pop Sex label through Wichita Records.
Support comes from local band Let’s Buy Happiness and Humberside outfit The Neat, who are set to appear on Pop Sex’s next release sometime in June.
Frankie & The Heartstrings play Hoult’s Yard Warehouse 34 on Thursday 10th of May. Tickets £7/10.
