VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: The Prison Library – Liars

The Prison Library, Newcastle’s urgently-rhythmic, darkly-melodic fivesome present the epic video for their new single ‘Liars’. Produced by Mick Ross, the track was shot on a cinema soundstage by director Scott Coulter and is now ready to swarm your senses. Enjoy.
A feast for both the eyes and the ears, we asked the band’s guitarist Joe Frankland for a rambling explanation of sorts.
“The director, Scott Coulter is a very close friend of ours and is well known for making videos for club nights like Shindig. He came to us with a great idea and the knowledge that he could get hold of the best cameras and a pretty amazing team of helpers. And we took over Screen 1 at the Odeon in Silverlink with proper staging, lighting and the real pro treatment.
The storm cloud projections were sourced by Scott before he meticulously set the movement and flashes to the music in advance of the shoot. Because it was in the cinema we had to wait until the last showing of Avengers Assembled cleared out and the shoot took place from 10pm on a Sunday night – 6am on a Monday morning. It included loads of fancy camera work and as you’ll see in the video, the middle 8 was shot at double speed then slowed down to create some pretty amazing shots.”
The Prison Library officially launch the single on Wednesday 4th of July at The Cluny 2. Tickets are £4/5 and support comes from Mammal Club, Weird Shapes and Our Beat Is Correct DJ sets.
