It’s been ten years since current landlady Jo Hodson has been at the Cumberland Arms, and it’s a great excuse for a celebration. As well as the forthcoming NARC. Fest and Cumberland Reel events (Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd July respectively), the Cumberland’s Beer And Cider festival taking place from Friday 13th until Sunday 15th will be a sure-fire way to guarantee a good party.
The Cumberland has received the CAMRA Regional Cider Pub Of The Year four years in a row, and offers seven real ale hand pumps that rotate exceptional beer from breweries across the country. They’re also passionate about local produce, and the festival will feature several brews from right here in our own backyard, as well as countless beers from the rest of the country.
With three bars, 40 cask ales and 40 real ciders there’s something for everyone. They’ll also be premiering a large range of Keg and Bottled beers, giving a glimpse into future trends in brewing. It’s not just a boozy affair either, bring the kids down on Saturday 14th to enjoy storytelling, face painting, a craft station, music workshops and giant outdoor games. A live brewing demonstration will also take place, for those who take their beer a little more seriously. Sunday’s all about free music, with Richard Dawson kicking things off in style from 2pm, with musical gems continuing throughout the day from The Cornshed Sisters, King Bee, The Sons Of Encouragement, Delta Dog and headliners Nick Pride And The Pimptones.
The Cumberland’s not just about great beer – the bar’s usual range of superb home-cooked food is on offer, alongside a BBQ to wash all that beer down with.
