PREVIEW: A Place In The Sun Festival
Having organised gigs for the likes of Cattle & Cane, Billy Bragg, King Creosote and Young Rebel Set, North East Promoters The Kids Are Solid Gold are now putting on their own festival this month.
A Place In The Sun Festival will take place on Sunday 22nd July at The Sun Inn, Stockton and promises to be a grand mix of rock, folk and Americana. Headlining are London based five-piece Treetop Flyers, who had their first gig organised outside of the capital via TKASG back in 2009 and have recently returned from the States where they were working on their debut album.
“We’ve wanted to do something like this for a while but the timing of this particular event came about by chance,” said Andy Carr of TKASG. “We feel that we’ve got the balance just right and it should prove to be a great day of live music, especially in what is a well-renowned and rather perfect real-ale setting – this is definitely one for the purists and we’re very excited for it.”
Providing support are Glaswegian indie folk band Washington Irving, who are also bound for numerous summer festival appearances across the country. They are joined on the bill by Scarborough based outfit Buffalo Skinners, dream folk four-piece Pale Seas, Sunderland’s This Little Bird and TKASG favourite, singer/songwriter Elaine Palmer.
