PREVIEW: Summer Big One

By Michael Park on July 17, 2012 in Music, NARC.

“Hello Hartlepool!” is what bands will be crying out across three venues around Church Square on Saturday 21st July as the Hartlepool Summer Big One, a one-day festival in aid of the Hartlepool & District Hospice storms into town, leaving a trail of satisfied gig-goers strewn up and down Tower Street.

This year, the Summer Big One! takes place in three venues in Hartlepool’s thriving ‘music quarter’, incorporating both acoustic stages and big, brash full band stages. The Studio, Flix Movie Café and The Clarendon will be your hosts and all you have to do is turn up, have a great day and enjoy the sounds of such local luminaries as Danny’s House, The Broken Broadcast, Lost State Of Dance and Mercedes.

They’ll also be joined by some fresh, talented acoustic artists as well as bands who will coquettishly strip back layers of electrified goodness to reveal their gooey acoustic centre. Look out for Kate Williams, The Woven Project and Martha Cook in The Clarendon.

Doors open at 2pm and you’ll no doubt be wondering what a wonderful festival provided by people who care about local music and in the aid of a great charity is going to do to your bank balance. That doesn’t make you a bad person. You can get your hands on a ticket for just £5 which gets you into each of the three venues.

The Summer Big One! takes place on Saturday 21st July at The Studio, Flix Movie Cafe and The Clarendon in Hartlepool.
