PREVIEW: Bunker Courses
By Nicola Owen on July 25, 2012 in Music
Play a mean air guitar? Ever tapped out a wicked bongo rhythm on your mate’s baldy head? Fancy leaving your own sweet butt stamp in Chris Moyles’ Breakfast Show chair or organising bashes that people will remember for years to come?
Well, it’s time to cull the mullet and get real, people, and start transferring those awesome fantasy skills into hard currency.
The Bunker in Sunderland is running free, yes FREE as in GRATIS as in YE PAY NOWT training courses over the next 12 months. There’s nobody who doesn’t enjoy a bit of music, right?
Get set to rock on from Sunday 29th July with the launch of the Youth Music Academy. This will look to provide up to 40 places for young people to attend weekly music classes as well as workshops in a range of industry skills for those of you over 18 years of age and currently unemployed. There’s no mention of an upper age limit so even if you’ve been following The Fall since they were born you’re in with a shot.
There’s a group guitar workshop planned and more musical type classes coming over the summer as well as a Creative Arts Work Club which will help focus your attention on career progression and identify employment opportunities.
Basically, there’s no excuse for not giving this a try, so whether you’re a frustrated Axe Goddess, a Manic Street Tub Thumper or just really, really fancy tuning up your triangle talent waste no time and get yourself down the Bunker for some expert advice on some of the coolest career paths on the planet.
Rock up at The Bunker, 29 Stockton Road, Sunderland, give them a bell on 0191 567 1777 or email them here for more info.
