PREVIEW: Slow Magic

By Michael Hann on August 2, 2012 in Music, NARC.

American ambient pop artist Slow Magic cuts a knowingly enigmatic presence. Purposefully holding back all personal details, the only clues to his personality and presence lie in his recently released album and an assortment of singles and remixes.

Therefore interests are naturally piqued when learning that local promoters Not Your Cuppa Tea are putting him on at The Cluny 2 on Thursday 9th August. Expect animal masks, synth dreams and a warm atmosphere.

Taking up support slots on the night are Peculiar Disco Moves and Euan Lynn. The former have been wooing the likes of BBC Introducing with their blend of up-beat pop and hookable harmonies. Mr Lynn on the other hand, makes a glorious surf punk racket via guitar and the humble Game Boy, which adds to the promise of this being a varied and fun gig.

Slow Magic, Peculiar Disco Moves and Euan Lynn play The Cluny 2, Newcastle on Thursday 9th August.
