PREVIEW: Made In Newcastle
By Hannah D'Arcy on August 6, 2012 in Style
The word ‘summer’ is one that, this year, either causes me to sarcastically snort, or bite my knuckle to suppress my cry of rage, depending on what sort of mood I’m in, of course. The very mention of summery things fills me with sadness, because surely it’ll be ruined by Thor’s wrath tumbling down from the sky.
Calm your fears, craft-lovers, as Made in Newcastle’s almost inappropriately titled Summer Market is INDOORS. Take that, water! Running from 10am – 4pm on Saturday 11th August in the Trinity Centre on Gosforth High Street, (the little building next to the church) the MiN Market will feature a huge variety of goods from over 30 sellers, as well as things to make and do.
Punters will be spoilt for choice, with plenty to peruse, including jewellery, (Strawberry Fields Jewellery and Nancy Pants) handmade clothing and accessories, (The Wooly Pedlar and Laura Parkin Woven Design) and stationary (Britt’s Little Paper Shop and Yellobole) to name but a few. Any children coming along will be pleased to know that it’s not all boring shops – there’s a free kids’ craft corner with a doodle wall, badge and sticker making and knitting or bracelet making for slightly older children.
Entry is FREE and the Trinity Café is open for a cuppa after all of that tiring shopping. Go find yourself a one-of-a-kind bargain and help support some of the region’s up and coming artistic talent.
