Mammal Club Are No More

By Ruth Edmundson on August 16, 2012 in Music

Mammal Club last night announced the news that they are to come to an end after one last farewell gig.

On their blog they said they didn’t feel the enjoyment or satisfaction they should have from working hard on the band.

They said “In reality we wrote ourselves into a paradox by putting so much of ourselves into Mammal Club that getting the reaction we felt we deserved was an almost impossible achievement.”

Wilson Astley (Guitar/Lead vocals) explained about the future possibility of more music from the band members, saying: “At the moment it’s too early to tell, but with the state of the current musical climate it’ll have to be a totally different species of project.

“Honestly I’m just looking forward to getting away from the shit smearing and perpetual push to impress people that I don’t respect.

“I’m sure we’ll all reassess where we stand but I can safely say at the moment the horizon remains beautifully empty, which looks great to me.”

Mammal Club released their latest single in May, and looked to be on the verge of big things after achieving so much. The North East band had previously been played on BBC Radio 1, released their single on 7” Vinyl, played countless gigs and built up a strong fan base who were all shocked to hear the news.

The band will be announcing a farewell show soon and will be making music available to download from their Soundcloud.
