The Hebburn Premiere
Not since the back-end of 1966, when The Likely Lads rolled its credits for the final time, have we had a proper, funny, accessible comedy show set in our fair part of the country. This Thursday night, that’s about to change though, when the first episode of the long-awaited family sitcom Hebburn airs on BBC 2.
Greedily anticipating the forthcoming chuckles, we were invited down to the premiere at Stockton’s beautiful ARC arts centre with our good chums from Giggle Beats to catch the first two episodes and chat with the writers, producers and actors who’ve worked so hard to bring the show to your screens.
Starring South Shields premiere export Chris Ramsey, star of Fresh Meat Kimberly Nixon, and… uh… Vic Reeves, the show is laced from head to toe with enough enjoyment to satisfy almost anybody. No matter what your age, gender, background, demographic or inclination, there’s something in there for you to take away and cherish. You’ll laugh, you’ll relate, you’ll probably even want to ring your parents just to ask how they’re getting on. When you do, tell them to watch the show.
