PREVIEW: No Globe @ World Headquarters
By Glen Keogh on October 19, 2012 in Music
After the recent success of Damon Albarn’s Africa Express when it rolled into Teesside with its mix of western and world musicians, now seems like as good a time as ever for a club night to be introduced to the region which promotes world music.
No Globe are a musical collective who, until now, have been putting on events in Edinburgh that focus on celebrating music beyond borders. They’ve worked with the likes of Spoek Mathambo and Afrikan Boy (see M.I.A – Hussle) and on Wednesday 24th October they’re bringing A Tribe Called Red to World Headquarters in Newcastle.
A Tribe Called Red are three Native American DJ’s from Canada who will be bringing their own musical creation, PowWow Step – a mix of traditional Aboriginal pow-wow drumming and vocals with the best in bass-bin destroying modern dance – across to these shores for the first time. It’s sure to be memorable.
No Globe present A Tribe Called Red at World Headquarters, Newcastle on Wednesday 24th October.
