INDEPENDENT Announces New Venue
By Adam Clery on October 24, 2012 in Music
With the preverbal sword of Damocles still swaying menacingly above Sunderland’s home of live music, gig-goers the region over have been sweating nervously for news on INDEPENDENT finding a new home before they’re told to “gerr’oot” sometime in January.
Thus, it is with great please that we can report that a venue has been found. Best of all, it’s just across the road, so not only does the venue effectively side-steps the demolition that’s planned for the other half of Holmseside, but you won’t even get lost trying to find it for the first time.
Ben Wall, the venue’s promoter told us; “Aye, we’re dead happy to announce it, it’s was always our first choice of venue as it’s in the right area and it’s only about 10 meters over the road”.
The new premises are 27-28 Holmeside, formerly the site of clothes shop Van Mildert and right next door to Plugged Inn, and should be open for business in the early part of next year, all being well. More developments, and probably a bad photoshop mock up of what it should look like, as and when we get them.
